WHAT IS NAATI CCL TEST?

The NAATI CCL online test (Credentialed Community Language test) is an assessment organized by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters to evaluate your skill in interpreting between English and a different language (such as Hindi, Punjabi, etc.)

A 20-minute online interpreting exam where you translate real-life conversations between English and your selected language to earn 5 additional PR points for Australia.

VALIDITY?

The NAATI CCL result is valid for 5 years. Validity begins on the day you pass the exam. Within these 5 years, you can use it to claim 5 PR points for Australia. It expires after five years, and you will need to retake the test if necessary.

However, it is important to note here that the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters determines the validity. Australian Immigration authorities only accept it within this validity period.

IS IT ONLINE OR OFFLINE?

• The test is entirely online (you can attempt it at your home).
• It is performed on a platform featuring audio and recording system (without video interaction).
• Your exam is supervised (proctored) to maintain fairness.

WHAT THEY CHECK?

• Precision/ Accuracy (right interpretation)
• Fluency and grammar
• Concise communication (no extended breaks)

TEST FORMAT?

• Two dialogues (conversations) are provided.
• Every conversation is about 300 words separated into brief sections (no more than 35 words).

Procedure:

• You will hear a sentence.
• After the completion of the sentence a beep sound is heard.
• You will translate it into the other language right away

For instance:

• When an English speaker speaks, you translate into Hindi or Punjabi.
• Next, you translate the other language into English.
• So, it goes alternatively.

POINT TO REMEMBER

You cannot become a certified translator by passing the NAATI CCL. It is primarily for immigration points.
